    On Wednesday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 1,808 new infections of COVID-19 signifying an increase from yesterday. The last time the province recorded daily case counts this high was on May 21. There are at least 357 patients in hospitals for COVID-19 and 154 people are in intensive care units.

    The seven-day rolling average rose to 1,514 today as it was at 940 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 6.6 per cent as it processed over 44,726 tests in the last 24-hour period. Of the cases reported today, 625 involved people who are unvaccinated and 1,046 were in people who are fully vaccinated.

    According to Ontario, 24,711,700 shots have been administered to people in the province. There were 343 new cases logged in Toronto, 134 cases in Kingston and 132 in Peel Region. The province also reported 112 cases in Halton Region, 117 in Ottawa, and 149 in York Region.
