On Monday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 4,790 new infections of COVID-19 however, the number is an estimate due to backlogs. Ontario has just passed over 1,000,000 lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases today. There are at least 3,861 patients in hospitals for COVID-19 and 615 people are in intensive care units.
Information on the vaccination status of individuals in hospitals and incidental hospitalizations was not immediately made available to the government. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 18.4 per cent as it processed over 20,716 tests in the last 24-hour period. As of Monday, 91.6 per cent of Ontarians over the age of 12 have one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 88.9 per cent are considered fully vaccinated.
Since December 2020, more than 30,000,000 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the province. There were 886 new cases logged in Toronto, 384 cases in York Region, and 690 in Peel Region. The province also reported 185 cases in Windsor- Essex, 339 in Ottawa, and 252 in Hamilton.
