    On Monday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 552 new infections of COVID-19 signifying a decrease from the weekend. There were 666 new cases on Sunday, 661 reported on Saturday, and 598 new cases logged on Friday. Currently, there are 138 patients in hospitals due to COVID-19 and 141 patients are being treated in intensive care units.

    The seven-day rolling average rose to 573 today as it was at 476 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 2.2 per cent as it processed over 21,475 tests in the last 24-hour period. Ontario has just announced that 85 per cent of eligible Ontarians aged 12 and up are considered to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

    The province released its vaccine passport on September 22, making non-essential service available to those who are fully vaccinated. There were 85 new cases in Toronto, 51 cases in Peel Region, and 49 cases in York Region. Ottawa reported 37 cases, Windsor-Essex reported 30, and Niagara logged 30.
