    On Monday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 788 new infections of COVID-19 signifying a decrease from the weekend. Of the cases reported today, 412 were found in unvaccinated individuals, and 315 were found in vaccinated people. Currently, 148 patients are being treated in intensive care units for COVID-19.

    The seven-day rolling average rose to 783 today as it was at 656 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 3.5 per cent as it processed over 26,016 tests in the last 24-hour period. Ontario announced its first two cases of the new Omicron variant on Sunday and reported zero today.

    The province released its vaccine passport on September 22, making non-essential service available to those who are fully vaccinated. More than 86 per cent of eligible people in Ontario are fully vaccinated. So far in Ontario, 22,950,908 vaccine doses have been administered.
