Haircuts and indoor gatherings will be available earlier than expected as the Ontario government said the province will commence Step 2 of its COVID-19 reopening plan ahead of schedule.

The second stage which will now start on Wednesday will allow people to host indoor gatherings of up to 5 people, meet outdoors with up to 25 people, and resume personal care services like haircuts. In addition team sports, and outdoor performances can happen and outdoor attractions including waterparks can open.

Further restrictions being loosened are outdoor dining capacity limits which can increase to six people at a table. Essential retail stores can basically double their capacity to 50 per cent and non-essential retail stores can increase to 45 per cent.

For the government to make this decision, they said it needed to see 70 per cent of adults with one dose of COVID-19. They also said 20 per cent of adults have to be fully vaccinated, meaning they received their second shot 2 weeks in advance.
