The province has officially launched its COVID-19 vaccine verification app and QR code system.  Even though the app is available for download, there are some residents that will not be able to access the app and obtain their QR code. The province implemented its vaccine mandate on September 22, requiring residents to show proof of vaccination in order to visit non-essential businesses.

It has been over a month and residents are using a COVID-19 receipt as well as a government identification to prove their vaccine status. Soon, most people who are fully vaccinated will be able to obtain an enhanced QR code instead. Businesses and services will be able to scan the QR code with the new app as well as identify if that person is vaccinated.

People will still need to show government identification when scanning their QR codes. Businesses will download the Verify Ontario app which will be able to scan the enhanced QR codes. The app will be available in the Apple app and Google Play stores in both French and English. The app can be used without an internet connection and can scan both digital and physical copies.
