Many people are wanting to travel and travel agencies are noticing increasingly high interest. A travel agency in Ottawa says bookings to the Caribbean, resort vacations, and cruises are filling up as early as this September. President of Centrum Travel-CWT Vacations Carolyn Pernari, believes “A lot of people are booking now because they’ve had their first vaccine”.

An epidemiologist and associate professor with the University of Ottawa, Raywat Deonandan, does not think it is safe to do so. He says everyone should get their second shot before leisure travel happens on a large scale. He also explains that even with a population that is vaccinated, COVID-19 variants can still pose a risk.

People in the United States may be able to travel to Europe in the summer. Like the States, Canada’s government is also planning to develop an International COVID-19 Passport, which would allow fully vaccinated citizens to travel abroad.
