In several parts of the country, essential workers plea for paid sick leave. Riverside Natural Foods is one of the several companies that offer employees paid sick leave. The president of the Ontario-based company claims “it’s not just good for protecting health — it’s good for the books”.

Located in Vaughan, the company has remained open throughout the pandemic. They provide up to 14 days of paid sick leave for their staff of 500. Doctors and public health officials have said, use paid sick leave to ensure workers stay home when sick, this will help reduce workplace transmission.

Earlier this week, the province was under pressure to control workplace transmissions around Ontario. The government said they would fund a temporary leave program that would cover 3 sick days. They also offered to double the federal CRSB from $500-$1000 per week.
