    On Monday, Pfizer announced that an early look at its vaccine data shows that the shots maybe 90 per cent effective at preventing COVID-19.

    The data came from an independent data monitoring board, which looked at 94 infections recorded for a study with 44,000 people in the U.S. and 5 other countries participating.

    Pfizer warned that the protection rate might change by the time the study ends.

    Dr. Bill Gruber, Pfizer’s senior vice president of clinical development, said: “We’re in a position potentially to be able to offer some hope, we’re very encouraged.”
