Beginning September 1, 2021, the Quebec government will be putting into place a vaccine passport system. It will effectively keep people who are not fully vaccinated from participating in many non-essential activities. The passport will take the form of an electronic QR code on a phone that has already been tested out at many businesses in Quebec.

The passport will apply to anyone 13-years-old and over and be available in an app called VaxiCode on August 25, 2021. Apple devices will have access first and android will follow shortly after. The app will become usable once you upload your scannable QR code. It will contain your name, date of birth, and vaccination status which will be delivered by email by the Quebec government.

The vaccine passport will be used in a range of activities and events that pose a higher risk of contacting COVID-19. This includes festivals, gyms, sports venues, and training facilities. Bars and restaurants will require a passport for indoor or patio dining, but not for takeout. Other locations include casinos, bingo halls, bowling alleys, amusement parks, marathons, and zoos.
