Kanye West has been calling himself Ye on social media for years, but now it’s official. On Monday, a Los Angeles judge approved the request for the rapper, producer, and fashion designer to legally change his name. His previous legal name was Kanye Omari West and now it is just Ye, with no middle or last name.

In the court documents, Judge Michelle Williams said “There being no objections, the petition for change of name is granted,” The petition was filed on August 24 and cited “personal reasons.” Ye tweeted in 2018 that he wanted to switch up his name, saying “the being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE.”

“Ye” was also the title of his 2018 album. In an interview, he said that along with Ye being the ending of his first name, it is also used throughout the bible. Ye is 44-years-old and is currently going through a divorce with Kim Kardashian West. The two share four children together who also has his former last name.
