In Mexico, researchers are deep-diving into the waters of the Yucatan Peninsula to find evidence of ancient ochre mines. Even though the mines underwater are dangerous with low visibility and extremely tight spaces, the divers proceeded with caution to retract any ancient red ochre. Additionally, researchers revealed that humankind frequently visited the mines when the civilization was further inland and above water dated back nearly 10,000 to 12,000 years ago with non-extinct creatures, according to news sources.
