TDSB, Canada’s largest school board just voted unanimously to make COVID-19 Vaccine Mandatory for staff, trustees and visitors. The announcement was made Thursday morning by the Toronto District School Board and said its trustees voted in favour of this mandatory policy.

The board said it’s not the job of TDSB staff to figure out a plan on how it will work. The staff will be in charge of developing a procedure for all workers, trustees, and visitors. Each group must be fully vaccinated and must disclose and provide proof of their vaccination status. A spokesperson for TDSB Ryan Bird said “Staff will now have to develop this procedure and the keyword is mandatory, it would apply to not only TDSB staff but trustees and visitors.”

The board aims to implement the procedure on September 9 and it is unclear what will happen to people who refuse vaccinations. Bird explained that those details will be established in the upcoming plan. The government has said it would use a policy that would require educational workers to either be fully vaccinated or undergo regular rapid testing. However, school boards have the choice to enforce their own mandatory vaccination plan.
