    According to Statistics Canada, as businesses came out of the lockdown, the economy grew at a pace of 40.5 per cent in the third quarter.

    The agency says that the previous record for quarterly growth in the gross domestic product was 13.2 per cent in the first quarter in 1965.

    The average economist estimate was for a growth rate of 47.6 per cent for the quarter.
