Golden State Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry has entered the top of the NBA record book for most 3-pointers. Curry scored his 2,974th 3-pointer on Tuesday night during the first quarter against the New York Knicks. The previous record-holder for most 3-pointers scored all time was by Ray Allen.

The record-breaking shot was made from the right wing with 7:33 remaining in the first quarter. Curry immediately started waving his arms toward the sky as he jogged back down the court. His teammates then committed a foul and quickly called a timeout to celebrate.

Curry embraced his father, Dell Curry who was watching from the baseline. Then came the hugs from his teammates Draymond Green and others. Curry finally trotted across the court to receive a few congratulatory words from Allen. Curry is often considered the league’s greatest shooter and his record backs it up.

Curry spoke on TNT and said “I’ve been thinking about this number for a long time. I’ve even got it on my shoes,… Basketball history. This is pretty special/ These two legends. I watched them growing up and understood what it meant to shoot the ball because of them and my dad. Full-circle moment, man. I’m blessed. Blessed, for sure.”
