Hackers have stolen around US$600 million in cryptocurrency from the finance platform Poly Network. Poly Network says this may be the largest theft in the industry’s history. On Tuesday, the platform claimed a vulnerability in the system allowed the thief to take off with the money and begged the attacker to return what was stolen.

In a Twitter post, Poly Network said “The amount of money you hacked is the biggest one in the defi history,… the money you stole are from tens of thousands of crypto community members… you should talk to us to work out a solution.” The platform urged its other members to “blacklist” the assets coming from addresses used by the attacker to siphon funds.

Poly Network established many addresses in which the hacker can send back the money. As of 7:47 a.m. ET Wednesday, they said it received about US$4.7 million back. It is still unclear who is coordinating the hack and why the money is being returned.
