According to Mayor John Tory, Toronto hopes to extend its 2020 patio season by allowing all outdoor patios to have portable heaters.

Back on June 29, the CaféTO program allowed hundreds of restaurants around Toronto to add or expand patios until the end of fall.

The extension would provide additional support to restaurants by allowing them to have heaters to make outdoor dining more appealing to customers as the snow season starts.

Mayor John Tory said, “We are doing everything we can to support our local restaurant industry; I heard this request from the restaurant industry and took action to help allow portable heaters to safely keep CaféTO installations and patios warm, even in late October and November, to help extend the season.”
