To help move travellers “better and faster” a new technology has been installed at Toronto Pearson Airport. eGates or electronic gates are being tested at the airport as part of a trial, according to the Canada Border Services Agency. The gates will verify travellers’ identity and submit their costumes and immigration declaration.

The CSBA posted on Instagram and siad “we are developing and testing new digital tools and technology to deliver a better and faster border experience for travellers arriving at Canadian airports,”

When people arrive at the eGates, they will scan all their travel documents at the machine. The machine will proceed to take a photo of the traveller before printing out a confirmation receipt. The traveller will then give that receipt to a border officer. The agency said the kiosks will improve the flow of traffic through customs halls.
