FIFA has officially announced that Toronto has been chosen as one of the 16 sites for the 2026 World Cup. Vancouver was also chosen as the only other Canadian city to make the list. Edmonton was on the short list but did not make the cut.

Other host cities will include Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Boston, Philadelphia, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City.

During a video message Mayor John Tory said “this global city is ready to welcome the global game, … Toronto is all in and ready to welcome the world, … I think it’s going to be great for the game. It’s going to be great for the city, it’s going to be great for the economy.
