    As Toronto continues its battle with COVID-19, thousands of downtown workers won’t be in city subways, and office towers anytime soon. 

    In the fall, Toronto’s financial district will be a virtual ghost town due to several large firms and banks asking employees to continue working from home. 

    Colin Furness, an infection control epidemiologist, said: “Office towers are all those things that we don’t want with respect to COVID-19: bringing lots of people together in small spaces breathing recycled air, it’s basically a high-density working environment, and from a public health standpoint and pandemic standpoint, really unsafe.”
