    According to new data, Toronto’s newly installed speed cameras issued more than 53,000 tickets to drivers speeding during the first round of enforcement.

    To reduce speeding, raise public awareness about obeying speed limits, and increase road safety, 50 automated speed enforcement devices were scattered across the city last summer.

    On Friday, the city said that just in the first round of enforcement, a total of 53,090 tickets were issued by the devices between July 6 and November 30, 2020.
