    Uber announced that it would begin to require some riders to take selfies to prove they are wearing a mask before starting a trip. 

    Uber will not require all riders to take mask selfies, but if an Uber driver reports that a rider is not wearing a mask, they will be required to do so the next time they try to use the app. Drivers also have the ability to cancel a trip if the rider is not wearing a mask without any penalties. 

    Sachin Kansal, Uber’s global head of safety, said: “We firmly believe that accountability is a two-way street.”
