With only one day until Ontario’s vaccine certificate program is implemented, it is important to understand how it will function. First, proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be mandatory to access any non-essential business starting September 22 in Ontario. Individuals eligible for the certificate must have both doses of any Health Canada approved vaccines.

This vaccine passport will rollout in two stages, starting tomorrow, fully vaccinated people need to navigate the provincial website to obtain their vaccination receipts. Users are told to print or save their receipts as a PDF to a mobile device and that can be used as proof. When entering a non-essential establishment, individuals must show proof of vaccination as well as a government-issued physical identification.

Ontarians will need proof of vaccination in almost all non-essential services and will still need to wear a mask and undergo screening. These include restaurants, and bars, excluding the outdoor patios. You will need proof for nightclubs, sporting events, gyms, meeting and event spaces, indoor areas of water parks, casinos, and much more.
