Last night the Winnipeg Jets ended Edmonton’s playoff run after a 4-3 victory in triple overtime. The game-winning goal was scored by Kyle Connor and gave his team a flawless 4-0 sweep in the first round of the NHL playoffs. Mark Sheifle scored twice and Mason Appleton scored once to help lead the Jets to victory.

For Edmonton, Connor Mcdavid, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Alex Chiasson all scored once to make it a marathon game. The Oilers goalie Mike Smith stopped a total of 39 shots and Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck stopped 37 shots.

Winnipeg set themselves up to face the winner of the North Division series between Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens. They will play their fourth match tonight as Toronto holds a 2-1 lead in the series.

The Jets will use this time to rest as their last three games all went to overtime. The last game being the longest had players gasping for air when they got back to the bench. Edmonton had high hopes in this playoffs after finishing second in the North Division, but it was an unexpectedly quick end for them.
